SBA was retained by Northwest Angle 33 First Nation to apply for funding and work with the Community to complete a Feasibility Study to assess renewable energy capacity and connection in Northwest Angle 33 – Angle Inlet. The Feasibility Study will explore the use of solar energy, wind energy, and battery energy storage systems to provide energy security and resiliency in this Community.

Northwest Angle 33 First Nation is a rural and remote community, currently sourcing power from a service provider in the United States, spending up to $430,000 per year on electricity bills. As power outages occur frequently in Northwest Angle 33, this study will ultimately lead to a reduction and reliance on fossil fuels while increasing reliability on renewable sources of power through greater resiliency, enhanced flexibility, and energy security.
