IEP Solar Implementation

SBA was retained by Lac Seul First Nation to secure funding for the feasibility and implementation of a solar power system and present options to utilize the Community’s Arena. The Solar Feasibility Study was finalized in 2022 which considered three eligible sites for solar panels, with the design and implementation of the project commencing in 2023.

Based on the findings of the Feasibility Study, a solar power system will demonstrate significant cost and energy saving benefits to the Community. The proposed rooftop solar system will offset Lac Seul First Nation’s Arena bills up to $33,000 annually with the eligibility to interconnect to the Hydro One grid to obtain net-metering credits. Once the implementation is complete, Lac Seul First Nation will have increased and improved energy security and resiliency, in addition to cost savings that can be reallocated to other needed services in Community.
